After a slight weather delay, our poetry editor for Topology, Elisabeth Wenger, is off on a five-month, cross-Atlantic sailing trip with a company that specializes in emission-free trade. Fairtransport uses sailing ships to transport goods between Europe and the West Indies, and Elisabeth will join the crew of a 32-meter schooner called the Tres Hombres. In her farewell letter, Elisabeth explained, “It feels somewhat disingenuous to be leaving now, when it seems like all the most important work to be done is here in America. But working towards a sustainable future food system is also important work, now more than ever before, and I go to do that good work.” Please join us in wishing Elisabeth a safe journey with clear skies and good company!
