Honor the Sabbath

There is the lamentable reality that many people in North America cannot take a day off from work because they cannot afford to do so. Keeping the Sabbath today therefore also involves working to create a society where poverty, low wages, and the high cost of living do not force so many into abandoning Sabbath out of economic necessity. Even as we should choose Sabbath keeping for ourselves, we should also be supporting workers in their struggle for a living wage that might prevent them having to hold down two full time jobs in order to get by. We honor the Sabbath by working to extend it to all.
