Katie Houston
Katie Houston got her writing start at a very young age, while growing up in Detroit, Grosse Pointe, and East Lansing. She remembers being captivated by the reporting of the Watergate scandal, and published her first newspaper in high school. Formal training in journalism at Northwestern University was followed with internships in Lafayette, Indiana; New York; and Washington, D.C. She's worked in print production, advertising, and nonprofit marketing, serving clients including Planned Parenthood and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. She lives in Kalamazoo with her husband AJ Hartman, and is marketing manager for the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. She "does theatre" when she gets the chance, does yoga every week, and has a little baking habit she's not trying too hard to break. Her daughter Nora, attends Michigan State University, soon to be joined by her brother Andrew.
