My friends, the loss is huge when we let our prejudices lead the way. We are all made in the image of God, and when we don’t see that in each other we lose sight of God himself. When some are excluded, hurt, oppressed, ignored, tossed aside, dismissed easily, and made invisible because of our prejudices and racism, we lose God. Our light grows dim and our paths become clouded with judgment, suspicion, violence. Today we have inequality in schools, mass incarceration, police brutality, sex trafficking, terrorist acts—these are all consequences of our prejudices and racism rooted in our lack of acceptance of the other.
