Kate Bowman-Johnston
Ten years after leaving Michigan, Kate Bowman-Johnston is deeply rooted in Northwest Philadelphia, where she lives, works, and worships. Her family chose the area for its ungentrified diversity and proximity to verdant Fairmount Park; they stay for the neighbors who turn stoop hangouts into parties and rally together to improve city life for all. Kate was a children's librarian at the Free Library of Philadelphia for 8 years before starting a library from scratch at a local public charter school with an environmental mission. She has a spouse, two kids, and a cat who make her laugh every day.
