Taos, New Mexico (2015)
Northern New Mexico is a bit of a spiritual portal for me. I don’t know if it’s the light or the wide-open visual field or because of the time I spent there in my early twenties. It was a time of real discovery for me, and going back ten years later, I found that there was something like pain in all that beauty. Everything has meaning for me there. Everything–even abandoned cars in an overgrown field–pulses. This photograph was taken in Taos, New Mexico from a window held open just long enough, one hand taking the photo, the other holding back two anxious cats. It is a snapshot. A blink of the eye.
